An interesting contemporary archive of the events surrounding the assassination of JFK, and the assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald from the collection of Attorney Jim Bowie, the ADA who prosecuted Ruby in 1964. Bowie's leather briefcase reportedly used during Ruby's trial is top of the list. It is top grain cowhide, and embossed "A.D. - JIM BOWIE". Also included are a number of contemporary copies of significant reports of the Kennedy/Ruby investigations including dozens of case reports (Affidavit in any Fact) of eye witness reports taken 22 November, 1963. One fascinating typescript (and two carbon copies) of a Memorandum sent to Henry Wade (chief prosecutor of Jack Ruby, and later the Judge in Roe v. Wade) of a Warren Commission Hearing held in June, 1964, with Jack Ruby testifying. Several carbon copies of Opinions all dated December, 1963. Several yellow legal pad notes on what various authorities think about whether Ruby might get a fair trial in Texas or not. Comes with an envelope addressed to Henry Wade postmarked PA. 1967. Three copies (one without the cover and no signatures) of a "Souvenir Edition" of Destiny in Dallas Compiled by R.B. Denson Private Investigator Jack Ruby Defense Team. Several of the photos in each book are autographed by some of the key players of the day, including Judge Brown, Henry Wade, Frank Watts, Tom Howard, etc. There is a copy of Inside the Ruby Trial Collector's copy with caricature illustrations by Gordon Currie. 1964. Gordon Currie Ltd. Also Includes a photo of the motorcade just before shots were fired (Francis Photographers, Dallas, Texas), two oversize photos of Ruby shooting Oswald and one is signed by Det. Graves, who took the gun from Ruby. One of the courtroom during Ruby's trial, with a caption below the photo. One mounted photo showing Jack Ruby at one of his clubs, with one of his "girls".It includes material from Katie Louchheim (Friend of the Kennedy's, Diplomat, DNC Vice Chair) starting with two booklets regarding Harry Truman1953/1958. Also includes her book With Or Without Roses, inscribed to Lililan Kilgore. First Edition in fine dj. 1966. There are two 1960 era "photos of photos" of the Louchheims with Jackie/Jack Kennedy. Another group includes some very significant items belonging to the Kilgore family. John Kilgore was a prominent Dallas lawyer, who was well connected with all the players during the years 1963-1966. It includes all of the Invitation documents to the Inauguration of JFK and JBJ, two letters with the letterhead of the US Senate, to Mrs.Kilgore. One is dated October 6, 1960 and the other dated November 19, 1960. Both are signed by LBJ. Both are short notes of profound thanks.  "My appreciation for you, your thoughtfulness and generosity is so deep I couldn't thank you enough if I wrote you every day." Both envelopes are included. Editorial transcripts sent to Kilgore from CBS (one signed by Walter Cronkite) and other correspondence from ABC's Edward Morgan, with signatures. Finally, a rather beat up commercial photo album with JFK on the front, meant to be used to collect pictures, clippings, etc related to his assassination, with many unmounted newspaper clippings, all saved by people who knew the main players in those fateful days of 1963 and 1964. Lots of items in this archive, from official sources as well as some commercial hype.

The briefcase is in reasonably good used condition. Wear and cracking to leather, soiling, etc. The zipper works. The inside is in very good condition. All photos show wear and minor folds, etc., associated with age. Documents are in good to very good used condition. The LBJ letters are fine, with some toning to the envelopes. The magazines have been well read. Some covers are separated from the text, some are holding.
