About the Artist: John James Trumbull Arnold was an itinerant American folk artist active from about 1841 until his death, working primarily in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Known also as a professor of penmanship, Arnold painted in a distinctive plain or folk style, and much of his surviving work is identified by hand rather than signature, as he frequently left his portraits unsigned.
Overall excellent original condition, with minor imperfections to frame commensurate with age with some leather lacking as pictured.
