Ken Grimes is an American artist. He was raised in Cheshire, Connecticut and creates his art at Fellowship Place in New Haven, Connecticut.

Ken Grimes (b. 1947, Ephrata, Washington) spent much of his early life in institutions, including state hospitals, where he began developing his highly distinctive visual language. Grimes is best known for his meticulously rendered portraits of political leaders, religious figures, historical personalities, and celebrities, often surrounded by dense notations, numbers, symbols, and coded references. Many works reference extraterrestrial life, hidden knowledge, and systems of classification, reflecting the artist’s sustained exploration of conspiracy, cosmology, and power structures. Executed in pencil, ink, and occasionally color on paper, his compositions are characterized by tight draftsmanship, diagrammatic precision, and an almost archival intensity.
Since the 1990s, Grimes has been represented by leading galleries specializing in self-taught and Outsider artists and is regarded as a significant figure in contemporary Outsider art.
Works by Ken Grimes are held in important museum collections and have appeared in institutional exhibitions dedicated to self-taught and Outsider art, including the American Folk Art Museum and Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art
