Four 18th century newspapers to include: The Independent Chronicle...Thursday July 12, 1781. Massachusetts Boston Printed by Willis. Woodcut masthead. Much on the activities of the Mass. House of Reps. with John Hancock's name plastered everywhere. Much news on the War including Cornwallis and Lafeyette in Virginia. Many interesting ads. Professionally restored. The American Herald...Mondasy, March 15, 1784. Published by Edward E. Powers...Woodcut masthead. Much interesting news of the day, including an article on the unhealthiness of corset stays... The Independent Chronicle...Boston, Published by Adams and Nourse..Thursday November 12, 1789. Woodcut masthead. Front page with much news on Washington's visit to New Hampshire and surroundings. Other interesting news articles. Includes an Ode to Washington on his New Hampshire tour. Interestingly, it is set to the tune of God Save the King! Professionally restored, but the middle (where two folds meet) has been damaged with a bit of loss. The Salem Chronicle by William Carlton...Salem, Mass. Friday, July 14, 1797. Murder! Port Elizabeth, New Jersey. High Treason! Philadelphia, July 6. Other interesting articles and LOTS of advertisements. A great paper, with lightly trimmed margins. All in all, four fine newspapers. Also in this lot are four American almanacs, to include: The Pennsylvania Town and Country-Man's Almanack, for the year of our Lord 1761...by John Tobler, Esq. Germantown: Printed and Sold by C Sower...[1760]. Delightful woodcut cover with an urban scene with 2 men looking through telescopes and a rural scene with a man plowing his field. Part of the Month of January has been cut out. Part of February has been cut, but remains intact. Almanack appears complete, but some pages are loose, and it lacks any wrappers. Scarce. Greenleaf's New York, Connecticut, & New Jersey Almanack...1802...Brooklyn...Thomas Kirk. Astronomical Calculations by Abraham Shoemaker of New York. Great articles of Shocking Murder, Negro-Trade, etc. Complete, but last page is loose and with some folds and small loss. Elton's Agricultural Almanac for 1853. New York...Elton & Co. Nice woodcut illustrations throughout, with each month having a "work to be done in" page, and tips for farmers at the end. Middlebrook's New England Almanac...1880...Bridgeport...J. Barber & Son. Complete with many adverts, and in the original wrappers.
Together with an early, "pilgrim century" land deed from Stonington and Preston, CT, with many signatures and dated July, 1703. Concerning land in Preston bordering "Billing's Brook". Ephraim and Joseph Minor of Stonington, selling to James Rix of Preston.

As stated in description.Worn and soiled, folds with edge splits (tiny bit of loss), Edges with wear and folds resulting in minor losses, but the whole is quite legible.
