About the Artist (Koss): Allen Koss spent nearly four decades as a faculty member at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, where he taught graphic arts and design from 1959 to 1997. His paintings are distinguished by a fascination with the ornate architecture of Art Deco movie and burlesque theaters, particularly those of Philadelphia, rendered with a graphic designer's eye for pattern, signage, and figural detail. His work is held in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Butler Institute of American Art, among others.
About the Artist (Barth): Frances Barth is an American painter whose work navigates the territory between abstraction, landscape, and cartographic mapping, incorporating aerial perspectives, schematic diagrams, and geological forms into richly layered compositions. A Guggenheim Fellow and recipient of grants from the Joan Mitchell, Pollock-Krasner, and Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundations, she is among the most decorated painters of her generation. Her work is held in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among others.
