A selection of 10 leather volumes with a wide variety of interests. 

1.  (Anon.) The Persian Letters Continued Or, the second volume of letters from Selim at London...Published by E Davies 1735. 8vo. With the half title. Original full calf binding. What appears to be an odd volume is actually a spurious "Volume 2" to Lyttleton's "Letters of a Persian". So it is complete as published. In fact, it was rapidly republished in 1736 with a new title, "Celenia...". Scarce.

2. Dryden, John. The Dramatick Works of John Dryden in Six Volumes. London: Jacob Tonson...MDCCXXXV.  Four of the six volumes only (lacks 2,3). Frontis to volume 1, all others with a copperplate engraving by Van der Gucht at the start of each play. Early bookplate in each volume. Original full leather bindings, worn, but holding.

3. Les Jeux des Quatre Saisons...2me edition...Paris...1816. 12mo. An early book of children's amusements, adorned with numerous hand colored woodcut engravings. Bound in speckled and gilt decorated sheep. Spine label reads: "Livre du P. Àge". Mild to moderate wear to binding, but still tight and sound.

4. Verney, H. Volume 2  A History of Napolean  ca. 1821. Title page supplied in a fine manuscript in ink and gilt. Ecole Francaise  Histoire de Napoleon...Original half leather and marbled board binding. 8vo. Numerous copperplate engravings of various scenes in his life, by Vernet, and others. in very good condition.

5. Johnson, Daniel. Sketches of Field Sports as followed by The Natives of India with Obserations on the Animals...The Art of Catching Serpents...Cunjoors...Hydrophobia and Rabid Animals...London...1822. First Edition. Engraved Frontis of wildlife in India, with a tipped in description of the frontis. 8vo. A scarce and interesting account, with a focus of wildlife study as it relates to sporting. Full leather binding, gilt decorated spine, and marbled end papers and page edges. Front cover detatched and  loss of leather to spine top and bottom. Needs rebacking.

6.  Cats, J. Outerdom Buyten Leven. Amsterdam  Abrah:vander Putte n.d. ca 1750 or earlier. 8vo. Vellum bound collection of works by J. Cats, illustrated throughout with woodcuts, some in the text, some full page. Many with skeletons! Often with religious allegorical themes. Contemporary vellum binding with near complete text block separation, but could be rebacked fairly easily (and worthwhile). 

7. Macaulay, Thomas B.  Lays of Ancient Rome...Illustrations on Wood by George Scharf, Jun.  New Edition.  London: Longman, Brown, Green,and Longmans...1849. Small quarto. A lovely book, bound in full maroonish leather by Haydav. Gilt covers. Spine with raised bands and gilt lettering. All edges gilt. Lightly rubbed and soiled, but would clean nicely. Half title removed. Mild to moderate foxing internally. Profusely illustrated throughout.
